Drug Treatment Courts

The virtual training course "Drug Treatment Courts," corresponds to the first version.

The cycle of course, to be made through e-learning platform CEJACAMPUS, generally aims to review the scope and components of the innovative approach involving the Drug Treatment Courts. Seeks to explain developments, research and theories based on these programs, in order that judges, prosecutors, defenders and psychosocial teams are aware of these issues and be able to apply in their daily work.

The course content will cover:

  • Crime and problematic drug use.
  • Model Drug Treatment Courts.
  • Hearings and role of agents of justice.
  • Therapeutic jurisprudence and implementation of Drug Treatment Courts in young people.

The course is aimed at judges, prosecutors, advocates, professionals from psychosocial, officials of state agencies and nongovernmental organizations and academics and the general public interested in learning about the conceptual model of the Drug Treatment Courts and their applicability American context and in revising an innovative approach in the treatment of criminal justice systems give problems that lives as a way of rethinking its operation and usefulness.

Pretrial Detention in Latin America

The virtual training course "Pretrial Detention in Latin America", is their first release.

The cycle of course, to be made through e-learning platform CEJACAMPUS, generally aims to provide the participants a broad view of the use of pretrial detention in Latin America, covering its early problems and challenges. It also seeks to promote informed debate and improve the technical quality of decisions being taken in the matter.

The course content will cover:

  • An overview on the use of pretrial detention in Latin America in the context of the reformed criminal procedure systems.
  • Preventive detention in the context, with emphasis on the inter-American Human Rights.
  • The hearing to discuss custody and its various components.
  • Mechanisms of risk assessment and monitoring of protective measures: the experience of pretrial services.

The course is aimed at representatives of institutions involved in the criminal justice system and, in general, people involved in their reform processes or interested in them.

Introduction to Gender Issues in Criminal Justice in Latin America

The virtual training course "Introduction to Gender Issues in Criminal Justice in Latin America", is their fourth release.

The cycle of course, to be made through e-learning platform CEJACAMPUS, generally aims to provide the participants basic concepts and also to sensitize judicial system operators regarding gender issues related to their function. Also, the course aims to provide participants with basic tools that allow them to identify the presence of problems in the judicial system from a gender perspective and provide basic conceptual tools that will provide an adequate understanding of them and their interaction with the rest of the system.
The course content will cover:

  • An introduction to the relationship between gender and Justice.
  • An overview about women in conflict with the law.
  • The impact of the reform of criminal procedure in matters of gender.
The course is aimed at operators of the judiciary and other professional matters related to gender and justice.

Challenges for the Public Prosecutor in Latin America

The virtual training program "Challenges for the Public Prosecutor in Latin America", is their sixth version.

The cycle of course, to be made through e-learning platform CEJACAMPUS, generally aims to deliver knowledge and tools necessary to develop new working methods, and dynamic approaches to address practical problems in the implementation and operation of the procedural criminal as a result of various reforms to justice occurred in the past two decades in the region.

The course content will cover:

  • The Public Prosecutor in the context of criminal justice reform in Latin America.
  • The relationship between judicial and public security reform: Impact and courses of action.
  • The victim and the new criminal procedure: from theoretical discourse to satisfy specific interests in the process.
  • The impact of the reform of criminal procedure in matters of gender.
The course is aimed at representatives of institutions involved in the criminal justice system and, in general, people involved in their reform processes.
