Training

The experience that JSCA has accumulated through its research has allowed the Center to develop a comprehensive range of technical assistance and training services. The Center has organized numerous local and international activities that feature the participation of judges, prosecutors, public defenders and other justice system operators who are involved in the criminal procedure reform process.

JSCA has developed these initiatives in order to meet one of the organization’s key goals -to promote cooperation and the exchange of experiences among key justice sector actors at the regional level- by facilitating training for individuals who are linked to the justice sector.

JSCA’s Training Area moves away from the abstract approaches that have traditionally been used to train justice system operators and addresses the specific problems and needs of each justice system. The program is based on empirical information and tools that have been proven to be effective in providing solutions. The Training Area bases its activities on the results of the projects that the Center has developed, particularly the information gathered through the Follow-up Studies on Criminal Justice Reform.

The JSCA Training Area also offers an internship program, which is designed to enrich the Center’s work through the participation of professionals and students from various countries in the Americas. All JSCA internships are completed at the Center’s headquarters in Chile.
