Research Internship at the University of Ottawa Human Rights Research and Education Center

The purpose of the internship is to support reform processes in member states by offering one professional the opportunity to travel to Ottawa, Canada to conduct research on a topic to be proposed in the application and to collaborate on and take part in the Center’s activities. The intern will also acquire important knowledge for his or her local reality.

Training on the Adversarial Criminal Justice System at Universidad Católica Santa María la Antigua de Panamá

The gradual implementation of Panama’s adversarial criminal justice system began on September 2, 2011. The Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua’s Adversarial Criminal Justice System Observatory has developed an array of activities designed to promote the new system and monitor its implementation. The purpose of this effort is to allow students to learn about the criminal procedure reform and inform other sectors of society about the same.

Research on the Operation of Oral Criminal Trial Courts in the City of Buenos Aires

The Institute for Comparative Studies in the Criminal and Social Sciences (INECIP) has conducted research on the operation of oral criminal trial courts in Argentina’s national system. According to the resulting report, the guarantee system is violated in most oral trials because the principles of the use of oral procedures, impartiality, contradiction and publicity are not met.
