International Seminar to Focus on Information Technology in the Judicial System
The event is being organized by the Supreme Court of Paraguay and Center for Judicial Studies (CEJ) with the support of CIRD, USAID and the Justice Studies Center of the Americas (JSCA).

The International Seminar on Information Technology in the Judicial Branch: The E-file will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel Granados Park (Estrella esq. 15 de Agosto) in Asunción, Paraguay. The purpose of the event is to improve the management of judicial offices and justice services through the use of new information technologies in judicial processes.
The seminar will address international experiences with the e-file and the implementation of the use of new technologies in judicial systems in order to encourage justice service operators to effect cultural change. Adrian Medrano, Coordinator of the Management and Information Area at JSCA will offer a lecture entitled “The Use of Technology in the Judicial Branches of Latin America: Implementation Strategies and Best Practices.”

Medrano, of Bolivia, has co-directed and participated in judicial statistics, judicial modernization and judicial services and management improvement projects in Guatemala and Chile, the Dominican Republic and Chile and Costa Rica.
The Honorable Sergio Tejada, a federal judge who also works as the coordinator of the implementation of Brazil’s Electronic Procedure System, will discuss “Information Technology in the Brazilian Judicial System: E-Files.”
The experience of Paraguay will be addressed by the Honorable Alberto Martínez, a civil judge from Asunción and member of the technical team that is working to improve civil justice in Paraguay. His lecture is entitled “The Implementation of New Technologies in Paraguay’s Judicial Branch: The Digitalization of Voluntary Procedures- Pilot Project.”
