1) To conduct in-depth studies of justice systems and develop innovative approaches to discussions of judicial reform. Research and Special Projects JSCA promotes research activities aimed at enriching approaches to issues related to justice reform by incorporating a public policy perspective. The purpose of these projects is to promote the development of said reforms in the Americas. The Center engages in multi-disciplinary studies that cover all of the factors related to the changes being implemented in this area. Click here to view the Research page. 2) To promote regional cooperation and the exchange of experiences among key actors in the justice sector. Creation of a Differentiated Network of Justice Institutions One of JSCA’s missions is to facilitate and promote communication among public institutions and civil society organizations in the field of judicial reform in order to facilitate the creation of a regional community that is interested and active in justice-related topics. Networking plays a key role in this area. To this end we are actively participating in and collaborating with networks such as: • Ibero-American System of Supreme Court Chief Justices’ Summits • Ibero-American Association of Public Prosecutor’s Offices • Ibero-American Network of Judicial Academies (JSCA is a founding member) JSCA is also supporting the creation of an Inter-American Network of Public Defender’s Offices. Training JSCA is also committed to facilitating the development of human resources. To this end it offers the following set of training services: • Training Workshops for Judicial System Operators • Workshops on Justice Reform • JSCA Internship Program • Virtual Fora • Technical Assistance • Support for Local Training Programs
3) To generate and disseminate instruments designed to improve the quality and availability of information on justice in the Americas.
JSCA looks to serve as a permanent, active channel for generating, gathering and disseminating information, legislation and basic statistics on the operation of judicial systems in each country in the region in a simple and low-cost manner. Its initiatives in this area make use of the multiple advantages of digital communication and include the following services:
